Peking Opera (cont')

For example, the one which is on show next Tuesday is an interesting play.

The story happens during war time. The two sides (let's name them "the good men" and "the enemies" for simplicity, although this might not be the case all the time) are in battle and the good men are temporarily resigning from a small village, whose native inhabitants support them more than their enemies. The owner (hostess) of a small tea house, was one of the warm-hearted villagers.

The enemies took the village and naturally, searched for the supporters of their opponents. They suspected the lady but had no proof, as she was also kind to them as guests of her tea house. Two officers went to investigate the case.

The enemy officers came into the tea house and was friendly welcomed. However, the hostess was very alert not to give away her secret, since the penalty for helping the good men was death. She had to try her best to convince them that she was only a normal hostess and had no concern or viewpoints of war.

One of the two enemies was easy to fool but his subordinate was smarter. He kept asking her questions. Fortunately, he did not succeed (ironically, due to the hindering of his boss...) in this section of the play. And in the whole story, the hunting enemy became the hunted pray when the good men returns.

This story tells us:
1. Always find a nice boss...
2. Life is much easier in a world where you need to welcome only "good men" and "enemy"...

The show will be on Tuesday evening, 20:00pm in the 8th Hoersaal of the Main Building of uniBonn. There will be an introduction session at the beginning and the play might begin half an hour later.

If you have time, please come and enjoy yourself!
