Kidult

I've been watching a collection of Studio Ghibli Animations. They are not in my list of "favorite animations" because I'm over-picky. But that dos not prevent me from loving it.

There are animations that strike me with its ultimate CG techniques, there are animations that attract me with its cool characters. Ghiblis belong to neither. They are just fairytales, told in a plain, warm and touching way.

There are two ways of presenting drama to an audience: Aristotle tries to involve the audience into a sentimental synchro-oscillation, while Brecht keeps telling them this is not true, what they are watching is only a play. It's hard to say which is better and I won't do that.

Ghiblis seem to be the former, at least to me. I like to travel in the wonderland with the heroins, and to experience the impossible events, however childish they are. During this adventure I just lie on sofa and totally relax, without detecting the bloody murderer as in a thriller, without laughing at the crazy couples as in a romance--without excitement, it could be said. But it's not a bad thing to enjoy the peaceful children's story after much excitement.

I might have turned into a mutant of kid and adult, called kidult.
