IF I look like a kind of animal on February 21st, that animal must be a rabbit. that's because my eyes are red.
it has become a kind of habit for me ever since undergraduate, to stay up before a exam to pay the price of a whole semester of comics, animations, fictions, movies,travelling...everything except study. i should not complain much because i deserve the joyless night as much as the joyful days.
however, it was not the case yesterday: at 00:30AM, a friend came to me from Munich with her boyfriend. I was glad. it's always nice to know that friends remember you and run to you when they need help. they did not disturb my sleep at all because "sleep" was not on my schedule at the very beginning. But when they start talking about their dreaming flight to Paris in the afternoon, i was caught by a sudden shudder of jealousy. That's unfair! why there are people preparing for a romatic trip, when there are also people (me, to be more specific) preparing for a non-romatic exam? For the first time I tasted the bitterness of study overnight.
According to those very educative children books I read as a child, hares and rabbits have red eyes because they are always envying others. And here i am, glaring into the mirror at a red-eye monster who is swearing never to prepare overnight for any exam any longer and who is swearing to have a perfect trip to Paris one day in the future.
For the first part of the oath, I think it is better not to become true, or I'm sure to fail every coming exam. But for the second I'm quite confident that it will be true......tomorrow is another day!
By the way, tomorrow is the traditional 15th of January in Chinese lunar calender,i.e., "Yuan Xiao" Festival (Yes, your guess is right, the same characer as my name, Yuan). Wish you all a happy festival!
